Vignette Price Changes from May 1, 2025
From May 1, 2025, new prices for electronic vignettes for cars with a maximum permissible weight of up to 3.5 tons are in force in Bulgaria.These changes affect all types of vignettes, including for campers, trailers and caravans.
The new rates are as follows:
- Gone-way vignette: €49.60 / BGN 97
- Three-month vignette: €27.61 / BGN 54
- Monthly vignette: €15.34 / BGN 30
- Weekly vignette: €7.67 / BGN 15
These prices represent an increase compared to the previous tariffs, for example the annual vignette has become more expensive by 5.11 €/10 BGN.
The changes are part of a wider strategy to update road tolls in the country.For heavy goods vehicles over 3.5 tons, a gradual increase in toll fees is planned: the first from April 1, and the second from September 1, 2025.
The purpose of these changes is to provide additional funds for the maintenance and development of the road infrastructure, as well as to introduce a fairer and more realistic system of penalties for violations.For example, clearer rules are provided for the cases in which the penalty can be reduced if the violation is promptly corrected.
Drivers are advised to follow the official information on the website of the Agency „Road Infrastructure“(API) and to be informed in a timely manner about the new tariffs and rules.
A green vignette for eco-cars (electric and hybrid) is expected to be introduced, offering a 10-20% discount to encourage green transport.Also, a short-term daily vignette (for 1–3 days) may appear for tourists, which will cost about BGN 5–8.
In addition, with the aim of improving the maintenance of the road network and promoting fair charging, checks for outstanding vignettes will be strengthened through automated cameras and mobile teams.Fines for driving without a vignette will increase from €153.38 / BGN 300 to €204.51 / BGN 400 for the first offence.
